Repiping & Old Pipe Replacement in Longview, TX
When one leak follows another, or the water from the tap looks brown first thing in the morning, the problem is often the pipe itself rather than any single fitting.
Request a plumberSigns pipe is wearing out
Low pressure that gets worse over time, rusty or discolored water, leaks in different places within a year or two, and visible corrosion on exposed pipe. Any one is worth a closer look; two or more usually mean it's time to plan.
Galvanized steel
Older homes may have galvanized steel supply pipe that rusts from the inside, narrowing until little water gets through. It can't be cleaned out. Replacing it restores pressure and removes a source of rust.
What replaces it
Modern repipes usually use copper or plastic piping such as PEX. Each has strengths, and the plumber will explain which suits your house, your water and your budget.
How the job works
Most repipes run new lines through walls and attics and leave the old pipe in place. Small openings are cut and patched rather than tearing out whole walls. Water is usually off only for part of each day.
Partial or whole house
If only one section is failing, such as the line to a bathroom addition, a partial repipe may be enough. If the whole system is the same old pipe, replacing it in one go avoids chasing leaks for years.
Getting a quote
Tell the plumber the age of the house, what you've noticed and how many bathrooms you have. Send a request and a plumber will get in touch.
Before you sell or buy
Older pipe often comes up in home inspections. If you're planning to sell, a plumber's assessment tells you whether repiping is needed or a few repairs will do. If you're buying, ask the seller what the supply lines are made of and when they were last replaced.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I stay home during a repipe?
- Usually, yes. The water is off for parts of the day, and the plumber can tell you the schedule before work starts.
- Is repiping the same as fixing a slab leak?
- Not exactly, though rerouting a slab line is a form of repiping. If the house has had several slab leaks, ask whether rerouting the lines overhead makes sense.
